‘Mobile Technology and Digital Life’ addresses technology as a major agent of development, through the introduction of available software applications.

One of the four panellists, Michael Salzwedel, New Media Editor at Grocott’s Mail, stressed the importance of mobile technology, in the promotion of mobile news. NikaNOW is an open-source framework that allows anyone to start their own mobi-site.

“We started NikaNOW because we need information that is of use to people, and of interest,” said Salzwedel.

“Nowness trumps newness and we want people to know what is going on. As a result, most mobile phones can access this site”.
